Ms. Jennifer Perier-Champeaux, Director of Choirs at Johansen, was born and raised in Modesto, CA and has been deeply involved in choral music in the community for many years. She joined Johansen High School in 2008 after several successful years as Director of Choirs at Beyer High School. The choirs under Jennifer’s direction have received numerous first place, gold, and unanimous superior awards. In addition, her choirs have sung at numerous prestigious venues, such as San Francisco’s Davies Symphony Hall.
Ms.Perier has been the director of the High School Men's chorus for the Modesto Symphony's Candlelight Concert for several years. She currently holds the position of Director of the Chancel Choir at Centenary United Methodist Church of Modesto and is the Summer Session Choral Director for Expressions Community Chorus. Jennifer received a B.A. and teaching credential from CSU Stanislaus. She has studied voice with Dr. Joe Miller, currently of Westminster Choir College and former Director of Vocal Music at CSU Stanislaus.
In 1998, Ms. Perier was the winner of the Concerto/Aria competition at CSUS. She is a much sought after soloist for The Messiah and has performed the roles of Mrs. Nolan in The Medium, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, the title role in Suor Angelica, 2nd lady in The Magic Flute, Ma Moss in The Tender Land, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, and Sister Amnesia in Nunsense.
Ashleigh Hiltabidel, a Modesto native and graduate of Beyer High School is the Staff Choreographer for Johansen Vocal Music Department. At Beyer she was a student of Director, Jennifer Perier-Champeaux. Ashleigh studied music and theater at California State University at Stanislaus. In addition to her work at Johansen, Ashleigh choreographs the annual Johansen musical , Expressions Summer Theater, and Townsend Opera Players.
